A song of opposites

I don’t think I was made for the Dostoevskyian? novel. I probably should have started with Crime and Punishment since that’s regarded as his best, but I’m reading The Idiot and I’m enjoying it, but I think I’d enjoy it far more as a period drama. Same with Great Expectations or Pride and Prejudice, they’re stories I prefer to watch adaptations of as opposed to read. The amount of detail in stories like this almost bores me. I don’t know. I’ll keep reading it and see. I felt a little like this when I first started reading Huxley’s Eyeless in Gaza and by the time I finished it it became one of my favourite books. It could just be because I haven’t invested myself into the story properly yet, so see we shall!
