Damn. I feel yo pain. I'm taking philosophy of religion this semester too. Was initially trying to avoid it, for those very same reasons you mentioned. Like ugh, "I already know where they stand and where I stand and why; sure I can explore the history of it all some more, but I don't want to have to take exams and write essays about it." But it was one of the few philosophy classes left that I hadn't taken already. The mid-term is a week from today. Not looking forward to that. at. all.
You’re lucky, it’s compulsory that I take it.
But yeah, it’s just to the point now where it’s like who cares. We’re never going to see eye to eye on this. Ever. There’s no way you’re going to convince me the God of classical theism exists (because Western religions, Christianity in specific, are the only religions Western philosophers ever seem to be aware of and though their focus is understandable considering the time a lot of them were writing it is still annoying) or that your religion in particular is the truth and it’s very unlikely that I’m going to convince you he doesn’t and what’s even more! I’m not interested in trying to convince he doesn’t.
What I’ve got tomorrow is just like a practise test though. In the actual exam we have to answer questions on Descartes, Philosophy of Mind and Philosophy of religion. My plan is just to answer the first two well so that I can flop my philosophy of religion question. You’ll be fine in your mid-term ^_^
